An ADC team, including our entire marketing, creative, and IT departments, spent the better part of 2016 redesigning our website to make it “mobile,” as the IT folks like to say. With a third of our web traffic now coming from mobile devices, we needed a platform that was small-screen and touch friendly. The team agonized over the appearance, from the look of the menus to the readability of the fonts. Every single photo was resized – often multiple times – optimized for the various ways they might be viewed, from thumbnail to full-screen image.

More than a decade ago the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control began studying phthalates, a group of chemicals used as binding agents and to make plastics more flexible. Though neither has yet issued new regulations for the medical device industry, ADC has been moving to alternative ingredients, opting to stay ahead of the issue.

A few years ago, the FDA instituted new medical device product labeling and registration requirements akin to those mandated in the pharmaceutical sector. They’re called UDI, for unique device identification. Today, ADC is 100% compliant, not only meeting the deadline for Class II medical devices, but finishing two years ahead of the curve on Class I products.

New data from CDC show a slight rise in death rates in the U.S., the first increase in years.
